Campaigning for the people of Burgess Hill Learn more

Lib Dem Councillor Denis Jones asked the audience at the recent Burgess Hill Town Council Annual Meeting: “One of the things we know about our town is that we don’t want a DIY store at the Triangle. Is there anybody out there who wants one?” – his question was met by silence! Local residents, traders and the Town Council have all expressed opposition to the proposal, yet Conservative controlled Mid Sussex District Council allowed the application to go forward, by reallocating the land it relates to, as no longer required for leisure use. This was despite the fact that the proposed site is part of the current car park for the Triangle Leisure Centre – and they haven’t revealed on what basis they have assessed why this land is no longer needed for leisure purposes.
