Campaigning for the people of Burgess Hill Learn more

Burgess Hill is to get its own Food Bank to support the most needy families in the area. The Food Bank is being organised and run by part of the ‘Churches Together Organisation’ and is being set up with generous donations from diverse organisations and a grant from the County Local Committee, the councillors’ arm of West Sussex County Council. Other donators to the scheme include The Lions and Waitrose.
Cllr Sue Knight said: “I got to hear about the efforts to set this up and, as Chair of the South Mid Sussex CLC this year contacted them to see if we could help. We had £8,600 left in our Grants pot and, following discussions with my other County colleagues; we agreed unanimously to use the remaining money to substantially fund the start-up cost. The people who need this help are growing in numbers at the same time as other support is cut back”. You don’t need to be a churchgoer or subscribe to a faith to be able to apply. Sue also went on to say: “any news or updates to this story will be published here as soon as we know about them”.
