Campaigning for the people of Burgess Hill Learn more

An informal public consultation held in 2010 has said ‘No’ to Controlled Parking Zones being a part of the Burgess Hill street scene. This follows a huge response across Burgess Hill. Over 55% respondents were against the principal of a Residents’ Parking Scheme.
Burgess Hill County Cllr Sue Knight, said: “This was a very difficult consultation. Many of the town’s residents wanted their views known, and the overwhelming response was: ” No”.
“Some people have said that it was a forgone conclusion that the scheme would be implemented” said Cllr Heather Ross “Sue and I had said right from the start that we wanted to hear residents’ views before we made a final decision.”
The decision at the April meeting of the County Local Committee was warmly received. Sue and Heather along with Lib Dem colleague, Dr Colin Wilsdon, have now reinforced their campaign to get WSCC to make road safety improvements to key junctions across the town as soon as funds are available.
